Abstract

Corn is one of the cereals that are second staple food after rice. Sweet corn is was one of the many varieties of corn hybrids developed at this time. Corn plantation expansion not only on dry land, but also penetrated the lebak wetlands. Problems in the cultivation of lebak wetlands is water conditions are difficult to predict and low soil fertility. One of the solutions to increase growth and yield of sweet corn crop by using biological fertilizers. This study aims to (i) evaluate the response of growth and yield of sweet corn on the provision of biological fertilizer on lowland swamp land, (ii) determine the best dose of a biological fertilizer response showing the growth and yield of sweet corn on swampy wetlands. These experiments have been carried out in the Babirik Village, Babirik District, Hulu Sungai Utara Regencyat July - September 2013 using a randomized block design (RBD) a single factor. Factors studied were biological fertilizer dose (A) as much as 5 level, which consists of a0 = 0 l.ha-1, a1 = 3 l.ha-1, a2 = 6 l.ha-1, a3 = 9 l.ha -1, and a4 = 12 l.ha-1. The results showed that treatment of biofertilizers significantly affect plant height observations age 28 and 35 days after planting (DAP) , leaf number aged 35, 42, and 49 DAP; very significant effect on plant height age of 42 and 49 DAP, and heavy cob without cornhusk and ear length without cornhusk; no effect on the observed number of leaf age 28 DAP. With the best treatment is a3 (0.45 ml.plot-1).

Abstract

Oyster mushrooms usually can growth at any planting medium, are naturally like wood of tree or another medium, such as sawdust, straw, groundsel, waste of sugar cane. That sawdust or straw still need to added with other material, like ricebran, limestones, gypsum, etc. The composition of medium have various formulation. Everyone who cultivate of oyster have special composition for their medium that made from their personal research, e.g the secret of base material, suplement material, and the precisely of mixing. This research has the purpose of (i) knowing of growth and yield of oyster mushroom at various of composition of growing media, and (ii) obtain the best composition of growing media. The research was conducted in the Village of Banjang, Districts of Banjang , HSU and started from March 2012 to June 2012, using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) one factor. Factors tested were composition of planting media (sawdust : rice bran : limestone : gypsum), ie k1 = 90% : 7,5% : 2% : 0,5%, k2 = 80% : 15% : 4% : 1%, k3 = 70% : 22,5% : 6% : 1,5%, k4 = 60% : 30% : 8% : 2% dan k5 = 50% : 37,5% : 10% : 2,5%. The results showed that the composition of planting media determine of growth and yield of oyster mushroom and the composition of planting media that showing of the best of growth and yield is k3.

Abstract

Fish Lais (Ompok hypopthalmus) is one of the fish that live in the waters of the river swamp Rugan, Palangkaraya. Type of food and the availability of food in the water will determine the distribution of fish Lais. Total composition of the food supply will also determine the species composition of fish in the waters and eventually also will affect the growth of fish. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage and type of food in the stomach Lais fish caught in the river swamp Rungan Palangkaraya city. This study was carried out for 4 months, from January to April 2014, samples were taken every month Lais fish, fish caught and dissected to identify the contents of the stomach, the type of food in the stomach of fish Lais expressed in percent. The results showed that the type of fish food Lais for January are: fish = 60%, not identified = 31%, insects = 9%. Month of February 2014 kinds of food are insects = 56, = 22% shrimp, fish = 11% and = 11% unidentified. March 2014, the type of food is fish = 48%, insects = 36%, 16% and not identified for April Lais percentage of fish food is insects = 73%, not identified = 26%, fish = 1%. Water quality in the river swamp waters are pH between 4.5 to 6 Rungai, 1.7 to 5.1 m water depth, DO 32-36 mg / l, and the water temperature 26 - 27oC.

Abstract

Indonesia is now importing the fruits in quantities large enough to meet food needs, but each region in Indonesia has the potential of local fruit with high nutritional value. South Kalimantan is one of the areas rich in biological resources, including exotic fruits. Exotic fruits have not been widely known and most have not been used optimally. Based on its chemical characteristics of South Kalimantan's exotic fruits show potential for development as refined products in order to develop agroindustry and also for the development of functional food sources that are beneficial to health. Fruit is examined in this study include kasturi, mangosteen, balangkasua, kapul, kakalayu, ramania, gitaan mata kucing and katiau. Preliminary analysis conducted on nutrition of fruit, including analysis of water content, fat, protein, ash, fiber, carbohydrates, total acid, and vitamin C. Test results showed the typical exotic fruits contain fiber and vitamin C is quite good, the fruits can be studied further as a source of functional food. Most of the fruit pulp at small amount and hard to eat so there is potential for utilization as well the skin and seeds of fruit.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent of the influence of storage time fresh broiler chicken meat on plastic packaged in the refrigerator (4oC) to pH, water holding capacity and cooking loss and organoleptic (flavor, texture and color). The research was used Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments, namely: (P0) = storage for 0 day; (P6) = storage for 6 days; (P12) = storage for 12 days; (P18) = storage for 18 days and (P24) strage for 24 days. Each treatment was repeated 4 times. Observed variables are pH, water holding capacity, and cooking shrinkage data were analyzed with analysis of variance and when a treatment effect followed by Duncan's Multiple range test. Data of organoleptic was analyzed by Kruskal Wallis test. Conclusions from the results obtained by analysis and discussion of that storage time was significantly effect on pH, cooking loss, flavour, color and texture of broiler chicken meat, but no to water-holding capacity. The time lenght storage of broiler chicke meat, could reduced pH and cooking loss, flavor, texture and color but water-holding capacity was increased. Broiler chicken meat on plastic packaged stored in the refrigerator for 6 days the quality is still good.

Abstract

Rose is known as an ornamental plant that can be used for various purposes such as ornamental plants in the garden , in pots , flowers used as blushes , perfume,  cosmetics and medicine. Cuttings are often doomed to failure with no root growth. One attempt to overcome failure in root growth on cuttings is to provide an organizing grow. Cow urine is one that contains a growth hormone indole 3 - butyric acid belongs to the class of auxin . Cow urine is a synthetic growth hormone is commonly used to stimulate root growth in cutting. This study aims to (i) determine the growth of cuttings of roses against time of immersion in a solution of cow urine, (ii) get marinade’s best rose cuttings in a Solutions of cow urine. This research was conducted in the village of Banua Lawas District Tabalong South Kalimantan in April to July 2014, using a single factor RAK, with level 6 treatments with 4 replications in order to get 24 units of the experiment . Factors tested were cow urine soaking time ,ie p0 = without soaking , p1 = 15 minutes , p2 = 30 minutes , p3 = 4 minutes , p4 and p5 = 60 minutes = 75 minutes . The results showed that treatment of cow urine soaking time significantly affected the speed variables emerged shoots, shoot length 2 mst age, number of leaves mst age 2 and 4, as well as the very significant effect on long shoots 6 mst age and number of roots, the best treatment was achieved in p1 with 15 minutes soaking time .

Abstract

For the success rate of fertilization and hatching rate of fish eggs Jelawat required amount sufficient sperm for fertilization. This study uses completely randomized design 3X3, with treatment A comparison of the male parent female 2 : 1, treatment B male parent female ratio of 3: 1 and the treatment of male female parent comparisons C 4 : 1. The results of the fertilization rate of eggs produced fish Jelawat best treatment C ( 96.37 % ) with the ratio of male parent female 4 : Power Level 1 and hatching fish eggs produced Jelawat best treatment B ( 94.33 % ) in the ratio of male parent female 3 : 1.Results of all water quality parameters indicate conditions for hatching fish eggs support for Jelawat, but for ammonia concentrations slightly above the recommended value
